WHY CHOOSE US

What to Expect During Your Evaluation

All of our evaluations are scheduled in 2-3 appointments to ensure a thorough and comprehensive process. Here is a step-by-step guide to what you can expect.

Step 1: The Intake Appointment

This first meeting allows our clinician to get a complete understanding of your concerns, symptoms, and relevant history.

  • Duration: Approximately 1-2 hours.

  • Process: The clinician will ask a series of questions about your concerns, as well as your medical, educational, developmental, social, and psychological history.

  • What to Bring:

    • Any past academic, psychological, or neuropsychological testing documents.

    • A copy of any existing custody agreements (if applicable).

Important Notes:

  • For minor clients, all individuals with legal custody must sign the consent for services.

  • This evaluation does not replace a service prescription evaluation (such as for IBHS) unless specifically requested and discussed with the clinician beforehand.

At the end of this appointment, if testing is deemed appropriate, we will review your insurance coverage and schedule the testing appointment, which is typically within a few weeks. The clinician will also prepare a customized testing battery and may provide rating scales for you to complete and return on the day of testing.

Step 2: The Testing Appointment

During this in office appointment, the clinician will administer the series of tests created specifically for you.

  • Duration: Please be prepared to be here for up to 4 hours. The exact time varies depending on the assessments being administered.

  • How to Prepare:

    • Get a good night’s sleep and eat a meal before arriving.

    • Feel free to bring snacks and drinks.

    • Dress in comfortable layers.

  • For Guests: Anyone attending the appointment with you will be asked to wait in our waiting area until testing is complete.

After the Appointment: The clinician will score and interpret the test results and write a formal, detailed report. Please note this process can take up to 60 days.

Once the writing process is completed, the test results and recommendations will be provided to the client in a formal, detailed report.

Step 3: The Optional Feedback Session

This final appointment is available if you have questions or would like to discuss the results and recommendations in person.

  • Purpose: To review your report, discuss a diagnosis, and ask the clinician any questions you may have.

  • Scheduling: We recommend scheduling this session within 2 weeks of receiving your report. For minor clients, we encourage everyone with legal custody to attend.

  • Next Steps: If you have no questions, you can proceed with the recommendations outlined in your report, which can be used by other clinicians and professionals for treatment.
